John Riad - Director & Principal Remedial Engineer
John has been working in the remedial engineering industry since 2010. He’s a registered NSW Design Practitioner DEP1961 (Civil, Structural, Facades) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with Honours from UTS and diploma in Engineering Practice from UTS.
Widely recognized as one of the top remedial engineers in New South Wales, he consistently demonstrates an unwavering commitment to his clients. His dedication to excellence extends beyond the call of duty, as he continually strives to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results.

Key Competences
John excels in structural and foundational analysis and interpreting engineering, architectural and fabrication drawings. Plus, he is an expert in the diagnosis and inspection of remedial building issues, such as:
- Concrete spalling
- Waterproofing membrane failures and detailing issues
- Internal water seepage
- Cracking in concrete and masonry structures
- Construction defects
- Structural inadequacies
- Structural subsidence, i-e., caving in of land, retaining walls, etc.
Alongside this, he prepares technical building diagnostics and engineering reports, including recommendations about rectification works. John can also prepare detailed rectification strategies for remedial works, including technical specifications like structural design and waterproofing details and he can prepare tender documentation also.
John can also work as an Expert Witness and inspect defective buildings, as he’s well-versed in contract documentation, the Home Building Act 1989, the National Construction Code, the Building Code of Australia, and the NSW Guide to Standards and Tolerances.
And on top of this, John also manages budgets and contractors and sees projects through the design and construction phase of remedial engineering.
Kareem Adwan - Remedial Engineer
Meet Kareem, a skilled Remedial Engineer who brings a distinctive combination of technical proficiency and legal insight to the table. Kareem holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Legal Services, which have equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the remedial engineering market. Since 2021, his focus lies in addressing defect-related issues within the Strata industry. Kareem excels at identifying remedial building concerns and possesses extensive knowledge in tackling complex building defects and disputes.

Vast experience in superintendency, overseeing all facets of construction projects from inception to completion.
Robust project management skills, enabling effective planning, coordination, and control of projects to ensure timely delivery.
Demonstrated ability to generate high-quality, conceptual detail design drawings with an emphasis on safety, quality, and cost-efficiency.
Proficiency in identifying, analysing, and diagnosing building issues, while providing effective and sustainable solutions.
Experience in crafting comprehensive, litigation-compliant reports, adept at clearly presenting findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
Suzy Milliken – Administration
